Mirroring desktops using Chromecast
How to set up a new Chromecast
- Install Google Chrome if it is not installed.
- Connect the Chromecast device to the projector using the USB and HDMI.
- Go to Chromecast.com/setup on Google Chrome (can’t use Safari, Edge, Internet Explorer, or Firefox).
- Click on “Or you can set up your Chromecast on this computer” below the icons.
- Click on “Set me up” when the device is found.
- Accept the Privacy and Terms if prompted.
- Go to the Wi-Fi menu (top right menu bar icon on Mac or bottom right icon on Windows) and choose the Chromecast device name from the list (should start with “Chromecast”).
- Click the Next button on the webpage.
- Click Yes if you see the code on the webpage projected.
- Give the Chromecast device a name and then click on “Looks Good.”
- Choose Wi-Fi network, enter password for the Wi-Fi network (if applicable), then click Connect.
- Go to the Wi-Fi menu, choose that Wi-Fi network from the list to connect.
- Once connected, click Next in the web browser.
To cast the desktop
- In Chrome, click the Settings button on the right (3 dots) and then click on Cast.
- Click on the drop-down arrow next to “Cast to…”
- Select “Cast Desktop.”
- Click on the Chromecast device to cast to.
- Click on the “Your Entire Screen” button on the pop-up window and then click on the Share button at the bottom right of that window.
To stop the Chromecast
- In Chrome, click the Settings button on the right (3 dots) and then click on Cast.
- Click on the Stop button.
